We believe that responsibility means transparency and understanding where each material comes from and whose hands it touches before it arrives to the end consumer.
A Commitment To Organic Cotton
Organic cotton is the heart of Alabama Chanin. It binds all aspects of the company: sustainability, fashion, DIY, and craft. For over a decade, we have worked tirelessly to secure an organic cotton supply chain that is, as much as is humanly possible, Made in the USA.
The process of moving organic cotton from seed to fabric is intricate. In our case, it touches so many committed, caring hands before it reaches The Factory, where we create sustainable products for you.

Lightweight Rib Knit
This stunning fabric is organically grown in the USA by fiber and colored-cotton pioneer Sally Fox. It is then spun, woven, and eco-finished in Japan. The Black Chambray warped fabric is indigo dyed with a combination of steps including actual natural indigo and low impact dyed indigo.
Organic cotton chambray is made from a fine cotton, with a slight slub texture, and we find the quality of this woven fabric outstanding. It enables us to play with the drape in a new way, creating patterns with a bit more structure. We hope you enjoy wearing these styles as much as we enjoyed designing them.
